I am extremely happy to
be the Principal of D.D.R. College, a prestigious institution of this
“Satra” township Chabua of Upper Assam. Established in 1971, the
institution is dedicated for higher learning especially for the
students, from rural area in an around Chabua. I am proud as it is
accredited by NAAC in the year 2004.
16 August 1971
of a college at Chabua, a remote corner of North-Eastern India, was
indeed a massive task way back in the early seventieth century when
this entire locality was in need of a seat of higher learning of
this kind. We now proudly remember the pioneering efforts of the
educationalists and social workers without whose untiring efforts
this college would have been a reality.
Situated on a lush
green countryside with a sprawling campus of about 45 bighas of land
, the college has almost all basic amenities required for
facilitating a congenial teaching -learning atmosphere.
Established as an
Arts College on 16th August 1971,D.D.R College has been affiliated
to the University of Dibrugarh ever since. The faculty of Commerce
of this College was introduced subsequently on August 1, 1979, when
the Arts faculty was brought under the Government deficit-grant-in
-aid system. The faculty of Commerce came to be covered by the
deficit grant-in-aid in January 1996.
Over the years the
college has marched ahead keeping pace with the changing times.
Gradually , the college has introduced Major Courses in different
disciplines and has diversified itself to include quite a few need
based self-sustaining certificate courses. The institution has
reasons to be proud of its noble image emerging out of its dedicated
efforts not just for disseminating academic knowledge but also for
making its existence fruitful in the wider social context.
believes in quality assurance in higher education and in gearing up
to meet the global challenges. DDR College , Chabua , involves
itself in the process of evaluation by the National Assessment and
Accreditation Council (NAAC) , (an autonomous institution of the UGC
) , Bangalore in the year 2004 and was creditably accredited at the
'B' level. This college has finally been provincialised by the govt.
of Assam effect from the 1st day of December 05.
